The Mathias Alten Legacy Endowed Award

This endowed scholarship was established Mrs. Anita M. Gilleo to honor the collaborative efforts of David Wolcott Kendall and painter Mathias J. Alten in the 20th century.

• Applicants will be an undergraduate student at the senior level enrolled at last half-time in any major or primary program at the time of application.

• Applicants will submit five (5) digital images of their original work that demonstrates the following:

o Solid drawing and draftsmanship;
o Discipline and industriousness;
o Respect for traditional standards of craftsmanship;
o Versatility as to medium and a subject matter; and
o “Painterly” technique as opposed to mechanically assisted, highly abstract subject matter or extreme photo-realism.

• First preference will be given to applicants demonstrating academic merit.

• Secondary preference will be given to applicants demonstrating financial need as determined by the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid. Consideration for need-based awards requires the completion of a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
